I. Gorgeous Hanging Bed For A Stylish Home

Moving your bed to maximize the room area would become easier with Gorgeous Hanging Bed. Though it has been viewed as a classy version of the hammock, designer WiktorJazwiec has to show much more than this.

Belonging to Poland, this young designer came up with the idea of hanging bed that offers two positions-the sleeping position, in which a regular bed with four thick pieces of rope is attached to its wooden frame, and the position in which the bed is pulled up to the ceiling. Thus, it gives maximum floor area to the user, especially for the ones who own small rooms. Moreover, it adds grace to your room′s ceiling.

With the help of pulley system the automatic up and down mechanism lets you to lower and raise the bed, as and when required. The size of the bed and its materials can be customized largely where the largest bed weighs up about 80 kg. It consists of extra protection so as to make it safe and secure when it′s kept in the pulled up position.

The user gets variety to choose from wood finishes, lacquers, gloss paint, colors and adjustable backlighting options.

II. Spring Refresh In Our Beach House Bedroom

As we spent all of last summer renovating the beach house we didn′t actually get to spend anytime living out East during the good weather! By the time the renovations were completed – or, I should say, habitable, after all, is a renovation ever truly finished?! – it was fall and so we decorated some of the rooms with a darker, cozier vibe. It was ideal for the first six months or so but to be honest we were craving a fresh, relaxing vibe that would feel like a weekend tonic from city life in NYC. So, we decided to refresh the master bedroom with a cooler, cleaner palette in time for the upcoming spring summer season. Today, I′m giving you guys a tour of the new look beach house bedroom design. Let′s go!

We knew that we wanted the beach house bedroom design refresh to have a modern beachy feel. At the same time we knew that we wanted to keep some of the original pieces in the space, included the gorgeous black dresser and vintage mirror (love!), both from One Kings Lane. We used these black moments as the jumping off point for our modern details we added additional black notes throughout the space but in more modern applications. For example, a black metal bookcase and metal feet for the bed. Subtle touches like these played into a more modern vibe and helped to give the room a fresh feel. That, and the additional of this stunning and oh-so-beachy bedding by one of my favorite designers, Rebecca Atwood.

Let me tell you, when I first set eyes on the Foshay bookcase it was love at first sight. I love how the piece has a structured yet not totally symmetrical look. I′m one of those decorating weirdos that can spend hours restyling my bookcases and shelves without ever getting bored – so sue me! Anyway, this is one of my favorite pieces of furniture in the house and I just love the natural steel. The black plays off the blue palette so well; I feel like it gives the space some edge and spark -a sense of sophistication against the more playful pieces. Speaking of playful, how fun are the Early Bird, Night Owl embroidered pillowcases?! LOVE! These make me smile every time I see them. Plus, they are a dream to lay your head on at night. Win, win!

I layered the bed in a series of soft blue tones – you know I love my blues! For this space I wanted to keep the palette calm and cool but still colorful, and so the watercolor stripe duvet cover and reversible coverlet were the perfect pair. Rebecca′s beautiful Dot-Dash throw pillow was exactly the accent piece I needed to inject a jolt of brighter blue into the room. Not too much but enough to bring life and energy to the primarily softer shades. It′s always those small details that make all the difference in a room, right?

The Alden bedside tables are from Room & Board, and I′m fully obsessed. They are actually the larger version of the ones we have in our apartment bedroom in the city, in a darker charcoal stain, too. They work so well with the existing pieces we had in the space, especially the chest and vintage mirror. Also, I love how the concrete JWDA lamps from Menu look on them.

We chose to have the Ella bed upholstered in a simple white fabric to help it bend into the natural light that floods in through the windows behind. Luckily, it paid off! I love how all the blues look layered against the white, especially the euro shams.

I shared the arrival of my Rod + Weave chair on Instagram Stories and you guys went wild for it! Doesn′t it look so handsome in the space?! It′s the perfect reading nook for sitting in and researching advice on how to keep fig leaf trees alive! On that note, do you guys have any tips for me?! Thanks for reading, everyone. Hope you all enjoyed the tour of our beach house bedroom design refresh. Come on, spring, we′re ready for you!

III. Guest bedroom design ideas that are warm, cosy and inviting

A well-designed guest bedroom will make friends and family feel welcome, even when they are far from home. Use vibrant colour, hotel-style furnishings and touchable textures to make your guest room a place people can′t wait to spend time in.

If you want to be the perfect host for your guests, there′s nothing more luxurious than showing them to their own, beautifully decorated bedroom. Providing your guest with all of their favourite home comforts – beautiful bedding, plenty of storage and even a light to read by at night, will all add up to a wonderful experience for your loved ones.

If you don′t have the room to create a spare place just for guests, why not partition off another room to create a small area for guests to sleep? Choosing to section off part of your living room and sticking to a minimalist design won′t take up much space, but will mean your home instantly becomes more welcoming to loved ones.

Introduce a little hotel chic

There is no reason why a compact guest bedroom should also be unattractive. The smaller a room, the further your budget will stretch, so why not up the glamour with a chic hotel-style decorating scheme? Look for a stylish feature wallpaper; a black floral repeat is both delicate and smart. A well dressed bed is key to a beautiful guest room. Go for a large cushioned headboard in sumptuous grey velvet and layer white bed linen with applique cushions and cashmere throws in warm mustard and inky blue. Place an elegant glass table lamp on a classic bedside table and complete the luxurious scheme with a statement chair.

Factor in florals

Emphasise the romantic when decorating a bedroom. Cool, crisp sheets look freshly laundered and the colour scheme of red and white is suitably sensuous. The floral touches in the bed sheets are reflected in the design of the Oriental-inspired wallpaper for an all-round coordinated feel. To top it off, use mirrored wardrobes to bounce light around and create a wonderfully bright space.

Keep it quirky and cool

Opt for a quirky decorating theme in a simple guest room. In this neutral space, artwork and cushions with a royal theme bring the scheme to life. A mismatching wooden bedstead, bedside table and mirror keep the feel relaxed and lived-in, while a wool throw with an acid bright stripe is a nice complementary addition to the turquoise-bordered cushion.

Make a feature of it

Add stunning illustrative detail to a guest bedroom with a statement wallpaper. Here, the gently distorted hand-drawn cityscape gives the small room a focal point full of character. Keep the rest of the room soft and light to stop the pattern becoming overbearing, this dove grey works perfectly and ties in nicely with a denim blue throw. Finish the look with a pop of colour in a complementary bright orange and a cosy sheepskin rug for extra comfort.

IV. Create a blissful scheme with these punchy purple bedroom ideas

Looking for bedroom colour ideas? You can′t go far wrong these purple bedroom ideas. Often associated with royalty due to its expensive and long-running history, purple remains a popular and thought-provoking shade suitable for all tastes. It is also the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2018!

In order to create the bedroom of your dreams with this regal shade – whether it′s a main bedroom or a guest bedroom – think about the mood you want to set up. Stronger shades such as aubergine and damson evoke drama and stimulate the senses. The colour purple is associated with wealth so when teamed with extravagant fabrics such as sumptuous velvet you can build up a luxurious scheme that makes an opulent, even exotic statement.

At the other end of the spectrum, the lighter shades of purple are more soothing and gentle. Not so sugary sweet, lilac or soft lavender are pretty and feminine. The tone is light enough to give walls interest while remaining fairly neutral and can look appealing in pretty florals and gingham fabrics. Furnish with pale wood furniture or a traditional metal bed.

As seasons turn nature is bursting with purple autumnal shades that work so well for adding warmth and texture in our bedrooms. Rich berry shades or Highland heather hues teamed with tactile textures and earthy tones create cosy, snug-as-a-bug rooms you won′t want to leave.

Alternatively, purple can be surprisingly fresh when teamed with crisp white or complementary green and yellow. Accessorise with a soft, quilted throw and zingy cushions while a velvet upholstered chair or headboard adds a little luxury. The uplifting vibrancy will be a pleasure to wake up to.

Embrace warmer tones

Retreat from the cold into a cosy haven of snug-as-a-bug quilted throws and flannel linens featuring elegant floral patterns. Begin with a neutral backdrop and white painted furniture then bring in purple printed fabrics, a painted focal wall or wall-to-floor curtains. Choose a purple tweed headboard for texture and cosy charm. Framed vintage bird prints hung on a rose-coloured wall are so romantic and co-ordinating accessories add to the feminine feel. A soft neutral carpet will balance the colour, keeping the scheme subtle.

Choose complementary colours

Add instant luxury with an oversized headboard. A timeless padded design will bring a little hotel-style chic to your scheme. An original gloomy space has been transformed into a restful, minimally furnished haven. Dark wood flooring and an ornate chandelier further enhance the sophisticated feel in this traditional space. Introduce animal prints in small measures. Be brave, as there are several ways even the boldest of prints can be incorporated into any home.

Give your bedroom a homely feel

Decorate with hedgerow hues. Choose blackberry and sloe-shaded paint colours for a luxurious look in a panelled bedroom that oozes classic style. An upholstered button-back headboard adds an extra touch of indulgence to the scheme. Take inspiration from nature with a wooden branch that acts as a holder for a lantern – perfect for a spot of bedtime reading.

V. Too hot to sleep? Here′s how to stay cool in bed

All year long most of us dream of a hot summer, but when the weather suddenly becomes freakishly warm, it can play havoc with our sleep. While most of us lap up the sunshine during the day, those long hot nights are notable for the absence of shut-eye. After a few hours of tossing and turning, we all want to know one thing – what can we do when it′s too hot to sleep?

′Your body temperature needs to drop slightly before you go to bed, which is why you just can′t sleep when you′re too hot.

′An ideal bedroom temperature should be around 16 to 18°C, so it can be difficult to get comfortable in a hot and stuffy space, which leaves many people suffering from a disturbed night′s sleep.′

1. Keep out the heat and encourage airflow in your bedroom

  • Open as many windows and doors as possible to allow air to circulate. Even cracking windows at the front and the back of a house creates a slight through draft that will pull warm air out and allow the rooms to cool.
  • Keep curtains or blinds drawn during the day to keep the sun out. Blackout blinds were made for this sort of weather and shutters will also come into their own, blocking the light while letting in the air.
  • If you′ve got an attic, try opening the hatch. Hot air rises and this will give it somewhere to go.
  • Lights and appliances can generate a lot of heat, so turn them off unless you need them.

2. How to cool your bed

  • Get rid of thick duvets and blankets – ideally use a cotton sheet, but if you have to have a duvet, go for the lowest tog rating you can find.
  • Opt for natural materials in your bed and bedding. Man-made polycotton, acrylic and viscose are essentially made of plastic, so they can′t absorb moisture or conduct heat away from your body. One hundred per cent cotton sheets are a gift for hot nights. And check out Hypnos for a fab range of natural bedding buys, too.
  • Fill a hot water bottle and put it in the freezer before you go to sleep.
  • Cool a pillowcase in the fridge before bedtime or try one of the new cooling pillows that are available to buy. Filled with a temperature reactive gel, the pillows absorb excess heat, drawing it away from your body and cooling your skin.
  • Another great trick is putting your bed sheet in the fridge or freezer (use a zip-lock bag to keep it dry). Take it out just before you′re ready to sleep and it will be perfectly chilled.

3. What should you wear to bed?

  • Wear light cotton nightwear. This is actually better than wearing nothing at all, as natural fabrics will absorb any perspiration.
  • Cool socks in the fridge and wear them. Cooling your feet lowers the overall temperature of your skin and body.
  • If you′ve got long hair, tie it back. Hair around your neck can make you feel warmer.

4. Cool technology to sleep smarter

  • Use an electric fan. Quiet tower fans with timers and a choice of settings are the smart choice if you struggle to fall asleep, but desk fans and pedestal fans will do the job nicely, too. If it′s really hot, put a shallow bowl of iced water in front of the fan to cool the air.
  • Next time you buy a new bed, look out for one that incorporates new temperature regulating technology.
